How to Find Us
Gay Cove is located 40 minutes north of downtown Atlanta in the middle portion of Lake Sidney Lanier, on the west side of the lake, just north of Marker 21.
We are two coves south of Port Royale Marina on the right side just before Vann's Tavern.
The cove is not accessible by car except to drop someone off as there is no parking allowed on Athens Park Road.
UPDATE: You can now park at Athens Park. No parking fee. The park is technically closed, but we’re told it’s still ok to park there and swim over.
The closest boat ramp is Vanns Tavern and requires you to have an annual pass to park there. You can buy an annual pass at Two Mile Creek which is another great place to trailer your boat and put in close to the cove.
